In addition to the funds that HUB has sent directly to our humanitarian impact partners, we have helped generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations from our members to important USA social works through our HUB Give Big program as well as International ecostainment programs.
HUB is proud to have generated $278,829.00 in donations on June 21, 2008, from our members and event guests for the vital environmental protection work being done by the Pachamama Alliance, helping preserve "the lungs of our world" in the South American rain forest of Ecuador.
HUB Gives Big
Five families were chosen (two from Agape International and three from The Salvation Army, South Central Los Angeles) to receive an extreme life makeover through our first HUB Gives Big event. Attendees at our May Awakening Your Brilliance event had just two days and very little time to outreach to friends and the local community to request donations of cash, and goods and services to cover both the families' immediate needs, as well as help fulfill the dreams and passions of family members.
Participants were asked to support the family they were inspired to help, then split into teams of 30 to 130 and gather forces (their own circle of brilliance) and connections to create a miracle for the families.
Sunday night, the families were brought to the HUB conference, presumably under the guise that they were to share a testimony for how they have been helped by either the Salvation Army or Agape, but were surprised by the abundance they received - everything from bikes to household items, computers, job opportunities, educational scholarships, business training, counseling, food, cash donations and more. Tears flowed from the stage as well as throughout the audience as new life and sustainable giving and receiving was experienced by all.
